The district judge in Ivankiv had an important meeting this morning and had to cancel our preliminary court date. She was actually in Kiev while we had went to Ivankiv. Just our luck. We are going to try again tomorrow morning for a preliminary appointment and hope to now have final court on Monday.
We thought we would get some extra time with the kids today since it was early and we had nothing else to do today. We went to the orphanage forgetting that the kids were still in school. Yuri and Elena go to school at the public school in Ivankiv, not restricted to the orphanage. They stay in school until 5. We thought we would go by the school and see if we could see them anyway. Yulia said the kids get breaks in between classes and was hoping we could visit with them for a few minutes. We did go by the school. Kids were everywhere. Yulia went in to get the kids so I started snapping pics. Out came Elena. She was very shy around us today. Another side of Elena altogether.
All the kids came to meet Elena's "americans" as we were called. Her teacher wanted to come meet us as well. She had nothing but good things to say about Elena. Before she left, she had Elena say "I love you moma and papa". How precious!
She then told us that Yuri was still in the hospital. They decided to keep him one more day. Poor thing!! We then went to visit with him. He had actually been released but was waiting for a representative to take him back to the orphanage. Now we will only be able to visit the kids after 5 and on the weekends, until court. We will be able to pick them up around 2 and go back to the orphanage to play while all the other kids will be at school still. Maybe we can get some great one-on-one then.

O No! Sorry for the delay in court, hopefully she will waive it and just give you final court? I know you have been there a LONG time, praying for renewed strength and JOY in Ukraine! God Bless!
Sorry to hear about your setback. I know how ready you are to move forward with the adoption process. All in good time, I guess. This will give Elena and Yuri time to say their goodbyes to their classmates and friends. It also allows you to experience their life in Ukraine. I think it is great that you were able to visit Elena's school and meet her teacher! What a memory and experience for you all!!

So sorry that court got changed. God is in control remember. He has brought you so far. Tomorrow will be a good day. Your final court being on Monday will allow you to get the kids without having to wait over a weekend. Hope things go your way tomorrow.

if you get this in time, could you post the time of your court appointment? i'd love to be praying during it, even with the time difference (i'm from D.C., so EST) but will be praying regardless. keep us posted! :-)

I know how you feel about court being postponed one day, been there, done that. At least you got to spend some time with the kids, poor Yuri still in the hospital! He must be bored to tears. Good luck tomorrow!

Sorry about the delay...but it sounds like you'll be able to still get things done pretty quickly.
Stinks, too, about not being able to see them during the day...but certainly understandable.
I am so sorry to hear about your setbacks. Sometimes they feel like they are one after the other. The children's new clothes look adorable. Luckily you can have them try the clothes on to make sure they fit. I am sure that is lots of fun. I hope you get your court date on Monday.
We know how that feels. Try asking the judge to do it all in one session. That's how we did it and it made it so much easier.
