This week has flown by. The kids are enjoying their last week of summer school. When we tell them this is the last week, no more school until August, Aizley pouts. She loves school still. Yeah!
They are still doing wonderfully and have been spending a little more time with the family. They are beginning to understand that they can always come back to Titika Murphy's next week. They love seeing their Aunt Murphy and Uncle Jerry! Colton loves Uncle Jerry's motorcycle and Aizley knows Aunt Murphy always has something for her, be it lotion or a can coke! We spent most of Friday and Saturday at Aunt Murphy's house painting cousing Treyton's room for his birthday present. Aizley loves painting, too. Colton preferred the huge TV in the "man cave".
Aizley is also becoming so affectionate which is a total change for us. She will run up to you and kiss your hands and arms then give you the biggest smile. She spend most of the night last night sitting with Papa watching Kung Fu Panda. She is becoming such a "Daddy's girl" which is a whirlwind from when we first came home. She wouldn't let Papa do anything for her. She yelled for me to pour her a drink even if Papa was standing at the fridge. Now, she has him wrapped around her little finger. It was such a great Father's Day gift for him!
Colton is my shadow now. Such a "Momma's boy". No matter where I go, he wants to be by my side. While making scrapbook pages, he stands over my shoulder and sits at the counter watching me make muffins. He is showing such an interest in cooking lately. More power to him, right?! We decided to grill out steaks and chops for Papa. Colton loves watching me light the grill. He is still amazed that Moma does things like lighting the grill or painting walls. He gets a kick out of my work boots, too!
They are really doing well. The issues we have had with Aizley running away from us when trying to leave have ended (fingers crossed), eventhough we are still catious and remind her that she will get in trouble for running. We try to give her fair warning whenever we do anything that way she understands completely what is going on, which we think is the key. When we go swimming, we tell her she gets (for example) 3 hours of swimming and when Moma says "let's go" she can always come back next week IF she does as she is asked. She may ask us over and over again, "next week swim?" but leaves without a problem. Yes!! Colton has been able to control his disappointment without throwing tantrums. Crying never gets you what you want! The big word at our house right now is SHARE. Slowly he is beginning to see that when other kids play with his toys, he will get them back after they are finished. I think he had many things taken away from him at the orphanage from what we remember seeing so this is a big step for him. We never did find the truck we bought him for his birthday before leaving the orphange. We did find the bear we gave him tuck away in another older child's bed, so at least he still has that.
All in all, another awesome week...

You guys sound like you are doing so well as parents, especially since you haven't ever had children before. I wish I would have been this wise! It has taken me years to figure some of this stuff out!
