Aizley's Terrible 10th...

Needless to say, Aizley is a memorable child. She sets herself apart from others in her style, her attitude, her likes and dislikes. Her birthdays are no exception.

We began with the question of "what would you like to do for your birthday this year?" on the way to school a couple of weeks ago. This being her 2nd birthday with us, there isn't too much I would have said "No" to baring any expensive exotic vacations. So, imagine my surprise when she said she wanted "my family and cousins to come to my house and eat dinner". I was so proud of her! With the help of Nana, Aunt Murphy and Babushka, we decided to get the entire family together (something we don't do often enough) and surprise Aizley at a restaurant we ALL love on the Saturday before her birthday.

On Friday, Aizley woke up in tears. Her head was throbbing and by 10, her temp was 101. All to familiar, I took her to the doctor. He confirmed it. She had Strep Throat, AGAIN! You may remember she was lucky enough to experience this once before on the day of our 4th of July Fireworks party. This time, however, we found out that Aizley has chronic tonsillitis which, when triggered by her allergies (to the best of my recollection), is the predecessor to her Strep Throat. A somewhat painful shot in the fanny, a forecast of tonsil removal in the future and a bottle of antibiotics later and we were on our way home.

Poor thing! Luckily, her fever broke Friday night around 8 and stayed down throughout Saturday. As it turned out, we ended up having most of the family (minus the cousins) to the house on Sunday to celebrate with lasagna and strawberry cupcakes. Happy 10th Aizley!! We love you very much!

The Magic 8 ball Colton picked out for her was a hit!

As was the 52 set of pens Babushka picked up for my artsy little diva.

Wishing for another wonderful year ahead, minus the sickness.

It was a short and sweet party as most everyone had to leave early to they could get home before the snow storm hit. The best gift of all was that we received between 4-8 inches of snow in our area (quite a lot for us) and the school system has been shut down for the past three days with very little hope of actually returning to school before the Christmas break starts, which is this Friday. Oh well, at least I actually ended up with a day off of work as a result of the snow!!

Our attempt at a snow man in the exceptionally fluffy snow! Harry lasted long enough for a pic before Peaches took a running dive on him and Buddy stole his arm.

Peaches after the "incident".

Buddy strutting his victory over Harry's arm.

My two cuties enjoying the snow.

With the onset of snow, the kids are anxiously awaiting Christmas. They are really getting into the fun of the season. "Grandma got ran over by a reindeer" is the new favorite song at our house. "The Grinch" movie and cartoon trumps all others. It's amazing that you can make icecream out of snow. Who needs a calendar when you have a son who wakes every mornign with... "9 sleeps 'til Santa comes!!" Most Angel Tree's are reaching their deadlines to meet their holiday requirements and the kids are still trying to find neat things to make others smile after adopting 2 kids a piece. I love that their hearts are so big!! Remember kids, he's paying really close attention this time of year.

Blessings of the seasons...

Happy 10th Birthday, sweet Aizley!!!
So glad to hear things are going well other than the tonsilitis stuff...that's NO fun. Kylie had hers removed this last summer. I've been wondering about Oksana for the last few months - we'll have to check with the doctor next time we go in...

Happy Birthday Aizley! What a bummer to be sick on your birthday. Hope you are feeling better. Ice Cream made out of snow probably tasted good on your throat. We love making that too. :)
