4th Party...

As per custom, we Turner's hosted our annual 4th of July BBQ! The kids totally love this holiday. We have friends, family and cousins of all sizes come to our house for an entire evening of loud food, fun and FIREWORKS! We spent several days preparing and barring the sudden sickness of a few (none of our gang), the party was a great success. I've picked through the pics from the night and edited those with "photo shyness".

What better way to begin a hot 4th of July party than with water...

After a quick break from the water for a huge potluck dinner of pork chops, chicken, burgers, brats, potato salad, fresh garden salad, baked beans, Hawaiian rolls and over 9 different desserts, all the kids joined back in for a quick water balloon fight. Give a kid some water, and they entertain themselves.

A quick break for homemade ice cream and up to the hill for the show.

A couple cuties under the stars. Aizley and her dear "other sisters" Chloe (on the left) and Sophie (to the right). "Chloe, you're bigger than my mom!" Aiz so kindly pointed out as Chloe, a 12 year old standing 5'10" and wearing a size 10 shoe, had to lean down to whisper a secret in my ear. "Mrs. Conethia, I am bigger than you!!" Yeah, Yeah!

The boys were very into the display.

Aunt Ari and Kaylee enjoyed themselves as well.

At around 11, we called it a night. The kids were still going strong (and hungry) and headed back to the house for snacks before heading home. We love having all our loved ones around. There have already been talks of next years' party. More purple fireworks was one request!

Monday, after recovering from the party, we tackled tie dying some clothes. What started off as a couple shirts ended up with a pair of my socks and some of papa's clothes as well. Some little girl even threw in a pair of undies!

I think we did pretty well for our first attempt.

My socks turned out pretty cute, too!

Next week, swimming lessons!

What a great party--and a great summer. I'm glad to be all caught up now.

I can't believe how much bigger they look in every post you write. Crazy-scary. But they both look so poised and happy. Good job, Turners!
