Lazy...

...that's the way it's been around the Turner house over the past couple of weeks. Lazy. I think there is a lot to be said for laziness, sometimes. With unseasonable weather and the onset of school, we have been taking a break. I felt the family needed it. Attitudes have been raging and frustrations have been running high. We simply needed to be lazy.

And we have! Homework has been light so far this year. I think the kids finally "get it" when it comes to homework. They know how to do it, what types of questions to ask if they need help. It is wonderful seeing the "get it" look on their faces each night as they face their assignments. I am so very thankful that they are comfortable with their work. That is a blessing to us all!

We purposefully missed fall soccer sign ups this year. We needed a break from the drama that went along with soccer practice. The kids want to branch out and try new things. Aizley wants to play basketball this fall and Colton wanted to play football. My little munchkin wants to tackle people! We missed that sign up while at Bible Camp. He wasn't mad, though. He has been practicing at home catching and running with the ball. We have all spent many evenings (as that's been the only time you could stand to be outside) tossing the ball around.


As you can see, practicing has been a priority for ALL the family!!


We have also been making several new dishes. Both my kids love to cook. Ask Aizley to peel an apple for the Mocha Apple Fudge cake that we baked Friday night, and it's like you asked her to polish a diamond! She had to get the apple pieces juuuuusssssttt right! Colt's fave so far has been the stuffed peppers and Mexican cornbread we made.

Aizley, a girl after my own heart, loved the zucchini bread made with the zucchini from our garden. These were seeds the kids gave me for my birthday!


We haven't been completely lazy. Colton did have a social studies project to do over the past weekend. His class is studying the different Native American tribes and their homes. The assignment was to make a replica of one of the houses. Colton, because he forgot his book at school, chose the tepee of the Plains Indians.



Over the weekend we also celebrated my mom's ___ birthday! What better way to celebrate than at the Oaks Restaurant. We're southerners, we LOVE to eat!! The kids bought Babushka a bright, glittery purse which I failed to take a pic of.

Did you notice anything different about Aizley? Look closer.

Aizley finally has gotten into contacts (they are not red contacts, just no red eye on during photo)! After 4 broken pair this past year, I insisted she try. My, how she loves them! "Now, I can wear sunglasses!"
