Using Energy...

The kids are still doing very well. The tantrums and pouting are now more reasonable when we say "no" to something. They are also finding ways to entertain themselves instead of demanding our attention full time. I still get those "moma, moma, moma's" every time they are wanting to do something or looking for approval. I can handle that though! We are also learning that we can't have "chupa chups" at 10 am but perhaps we can have strawberries instead.

Bed time rituals are getting better too. We have learned that showing the kids the clock around 5 helps them get an idea of what time it is related to bed time. At 8:30, we do snacks then brush our teeth. 9 means "light's out" and straight to bed. Colton falls asleep within 15 minutes but Aizley has been laying in bed and quietly crying for hours. We are trying to find a routine that works for her. She says she is just sad but she doesn't miss the orphanage. We have tried laying with her until she goes to sleep even though we sleep in the same room, we leave lights on, we assure her we will be here when she wakes up, nothing yet has worked.

Today we are trying to wear her down as much as possible. We met Yulia and her son and went to the WW2 museum to let the kids run around the tanks and such. We then went and did passport photos. Next was "papa john" for pizza and then we hit the grocery store located under the Arena City Mall. Then we walked all the way home where the kids are having outside time. We are hoping that this helps Aizley go to bed with less tears.

Their eating has lessened as well, however I did catch Colton eating some cheese from the fridge. Such a booger!

BTW, we finally recieved the social's last night around 4. Bob wasn't able to get back to the embassy before they closed but at least we are ready for Monday.

We also booked our return flight tickets for next Thursday!!! We might get done before then but knowing our luck...

Its so heartbreaking to have your little one crying like that...but its certainly understandable. She may not miss the orphanage, but it has to be scary to start this new life. You're doing a great job with both of them, hang in there, the tears with subside with time. Just keep loving on them. ;>)

I agree with Tami, she may be feeling anxious, not sad but doesn't have that word in her vocabulary. She's a bit older and so more aware of the huge changes that are happening in her life. You two are so very smart to instill the routines from the beginning. The great news is that she is sharing with you her feelings instead of hiding them from you.

Finally, an end in sight. Glad the kiddos are still doing so well and are becoming familiar of their new schedule.

Loved the outside photo. Looks like they are having a blast seeing and doing things they've never done before now. I know that there will continue to be a transition period where they will be sad, but this is part of adoption. Each child grieves differently and it is good that they release these feelings now and not try to hide them!

Thinking of you and praying for your family!
