Spring Is In The Air...

It's that time of year again, where there seems to be something going on every day. After a couple weeks of "the gunk" going around, bad attitudes to spare and aliens invading my ever-so-sweet son and taking over his actions, things are getting back to normal (for the moment);)

Report cards come out today and we expect good grades in all subjects for both kids; however those mean ol' aliens that invaded Colton caused a couple of upsets and scuffles with another boy at school over the past 2 weeks. Sigh. It seems that in all actuality, it was a case of rough-housing that went a little too far. We are glad to report, those "meanies" have since left and we found the old Colton in all his sweet self waiting patiently to reemerge. As a result of the return of the "old Colton", we hit up the Discovery Museum in M'boro for the Dr. Seuss Birthday Bash! Free admission to a very hands on science center that always provides hours of entertainment and free birthday cake to boot! We were so there! There were several tables set up to highlight some of Dr. Seuss's books with fun little activities.

This is Aizley's tribute to "Yurtle the Turtle". Cute, huh?!

We had to check out some of the regular exhibits as well. This is Colton's favorite. Mega Movers. He spends most of his time waiting his turn on this simple contraption.

We saw a local celebrity there as well. Snowbird, the Channel 4 bird who reports school closings due to bad weather!

There were over 200+ people at this event! Kids running everywhere. Since we were able to mind our manners and leave without fussing, we headed to Steak N Shake for lunch! Did you know, kids eat free ALL weekend at this place? Yeah!!


We were able to really enjoy ourselves and get ready for the TCAP review that began at school. I think it more a review for us moms as I had to rack my brain to figure out some of the answers. I found myself asking,"When did we do those types of math problems again?" Yikes.

We had another birthday last week, two actually. My grandpa turned 86 on March 10th. A birthday is always an exception to party, but 86 means all the family comes to wish you well. Happy Birthday, Pa! Love ya!


My brother, Gordon, also celebrated his 16th birthday on the 10th. The kids love Uncle Booger! Don't ask me how he got that nick name!! He was Uncle Gordo when I dropped the kids off on night to sleep over and now he's Uncle Booger. Colton loves him to pieces. He thinks Gordo has the biggest muscles! He heard that Gordo wanted "sugar" for his birthday and Colton delivered. Happy B-day, Gordo!


Aizley bought him cookies. Well, at least it's a gift he will definitely use!



Once the party was underway and the kids were filled with KFC chicken, it was time to play! Colton loves beating Booger in basketball. He grabs on to one of Gordo's legs and holds on tight as Gordo shoots. It's a sight you really have to see to believe.


Future Globetrotter?


While the boys were playing basketball, Aizley couldn't resist riding a bike with Cade. There's no telling how many times I, myself, rode down this same hill.

Thank you, dear Lord, for allowing us to celebrate time together as a family. Help us to remember to stop and soak in these moments while we can, while we are young and have grandfathers celebrating 86 years on this earth and brothers who are beginning their own independent journeys through life. How often we forget to just "breath", to open our eyes around us. How quickly it can all change! As we approach 2 years together, I look back and find it unbelievable how the kids have grown, their accomplishments, how our family has changed. Praying for more days like this and thankful for the ones we are given. Thanks!!
